Perhaps some vestige of the ancient practice remains in the recesses of human memory. Disease is of the blood; bad blood poisons the body. Bloodletting is therefore key in the combating of illness. Though medicine has long past progressed beyond that point, the mark was made. The branded soul demands a similar outpouring when ailing. A cut must be made in the spirit to bleed suffering.
A catharsis of ink.

Good Words
Lieu. Lieu has four letters, yet only one is a consonant.
Possess. Four times the s in five times the space. Not a bad deal.
Amalgam. Is there a word that means "a word that evokes its own concept without explanation"? If there is, please use it to describe this word.
Ergo. The perfect word to add that extra dash of pretentiousness to your speech.
Banana. Three different letters, used once, twice, and thrice.
Pharaoh. Admit it. Whenever you write this word you hear "Fair-ay-oh".
Karaoke. I can only assume that we English-speakers have slaughtered the pronunciation. But it endures.
Thing. I will allow English majors to contest the usefulness of "stuff", but "things" is a holy word.
Deus ex machina. The phrase evokes imagery of some sort of steampunk gears birthing a deity. Of flames.

Room With a View
The stairs go down. Leave the hot land of day, and descend down into an inviting cool. Smell the fresh pine scent. The desk somehow stays new after all these years. The basement isn't large, just one room. There's a desk, and a light switch. On the desk is a sheet of paper and a pen. The pen is different for everyone. Some have a ballpoint, others a quill. It matters not. Now, go to the curtains. Fling them aside, and gaze through the window. Sometimes this is the only place you can see. When you can't see out, you see beyond. Wonder lies beyond the glass, and everything needed to document it is waiting. Don't hesitate.
